Rebuilding from the Rubble

REBUILDING FROM THE RUBBLE – A new Year in Nepal

A building and support project proudly supported by the
Rotary Club of Ballina-on-Richmond and Rotary District 9640
 The project
Gatlang in the Langtang District was the second most affected village in Nepal by the April 2015 earthquake.  Once considered an example of unique mountain architecture, Gatlang, like many other villages in Nepal’s worst affected districts, now is made up of rubble and shelters made from zinc sheets.
“Rebuilding from the Rubble” is a humble project designed to rebuild a home in the village of Gatlang from what is left and from new materials we need to buy.  We have an experienced builder on the team who we trust will be able to teach additional skills and use of the new tools we will take with us.
On 29 December 2017 six Rotarians and 2 RYLArian (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) team leaders will be travelling to Gatlang undertaking the project. The team members are paying their own way, so every single dollar raised will be of direct benefit to the people of Nepal and particularly the villagers of Gatlang and every additional dollar will mean we can help just that little bit more.
